Pat Guthmann Haresch

Patricia Guthmann Haresch, MDiv, is a lifelong Unitarian Universalist growing up at Unity Unitarian Church in St. Paul, Minnesota. Most of her childhood and youth, she wanted to become a psychotherapist.
While attending graduate school in Counseling Psychology and coordinating adult programs at Unity Unitarian, her minister Roy Philips asked, "So, when are you going to be a minister?" The proverbial lightening struck and Pat knew this was the right path for her. As she was just out of college, however, she realized it would be helpful to gain some life experience. After several years of paralegal work in San Francisco and Minnesota, including legal and continuous health improvement work at Mayo Clinic, Pat entered seminary in the Boston area.

While attending theological school, Pat served as the Ministerial Intern and Summer Minister of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Ashville, NC, did her student chaplaincy work at the Spartanburg Regional Medical Center in Spartanburg, SC, and was a guest preacher in various pulpits in North Carolina and Tennessee. Pat received her Master of Divinity from Andover Newton Theological School in Newton Centre, Massachusetts, where she graduated with honors and received awards for excellence in preaching and distinguished work in religious social ethics.

Following seminary and just prior to receiving her call to UUCOB, Pat served as Consulting Minister for Nottingham Community Universalist Church in Nottingham, New Hampshire.

Pat lives in the Outer Banks with her husband John Watts Haresch, a family physician, their four-year-old son Will, and Shadow the dog.
